The Greenwood Golf and Resort makes considerable use of flowing vegetation and landscaping. The course and setting are incredibly attractive, as they are set among Chonburi's tree-lined hills.
Greenwood is a thinking man's, British style, course with numerous distinctive characteristics, designed by the 'old master' Peter Thomson, 5 times British Open champion, and Michael Wolverine.
There are numerous intentionally set sand traps, but not many water hazards, and there are many pot bunkers and patches of 'native' lemon grass that take special abilities to escape from the first time. There are also many strategically placed sand traps, but not many water hazards. The three nine-hole layout is difficult, demanding creativity, cautious club selection, and precise driving. This hilly parkland setting has many of fairway undulations, giving it a links feel. Several pot bunkers await any inaccurate shots, so each shot must be properly planned.
The full-service clubhouse has a view of both the A and B courses. After your round, relax on the big balcony with a nice beer and watch the sun set over the undulating Chonburi hills. When the weather is gloomy, you might think you're on a links course in Scotland or England.
The course now has new sand bunkers and a rebuilt clubhouse with new locker rooms, thanks to Greenwood Golf & Resort's ongoing upgrades. Greenwood is still rough around the edges, but its steadily growing quality indicates that it has a bright future as a well-designed and popular course among Pattaya residents.
