Paifon is currently Pattaya's fastest fishing lake. If you want to capture a lot of little fish quickly, this is the way to go. Put your catch in one of the keep nets if you want to take it home; if it's 1kg or less, it's free. They were restocking with 700-800kg of tilapia the last time I arrived. Catching them is a bit of a black art, but try a tilapia mix with ground bait, or bread, shrimp, worms, or maggots with a size 3 - 7 hook.
200 baht includes bait and 1 kilogram of fish to take home. Breadcrumbs for catfish or earthworms for tilapia are your options for bait. Additional bait is available for 50 baht each bucket or 30 baht per bag. The cost of renting a bamboo rod is 40 baht, but this does not include the kilo of fish to take home. Tilapia will be sold at 80 baht per kilogram.
Striped catfish, rohu, pacu, and tilapia are some of the species. Pacu will eat monofilament, so use a braid hook link instead.
