Pattana Golf Club & Resort is one of the few fully self-contained Thailand golf resorts, featuring a 27-hole course, huge clubhouse, sports stadium, conference center, heliport, and on-site lodgings. Pattana is located in Chonburi Province, north of Pattaya, and is accessible from both Pattaya and Bangkok. The beaches of Bangsaen and Rayong are around 45 minutes away from the golf resort.
This 1,000-acre compound was conceived and built by Thais. Dr. Pattana Juangroongruangkit, the founder's husband, was an avid golfer, and the course was named after him. The three nine-hole courses (Andreas-A, Brookei-B, and Calypso-C) each offer a different set of difficulties and features. Undulating fairways, panoramic views, changing wind conditions, quick Tifdwarf greens, and two par-6 holes are just a few of the challenges that must be overcome.
The A-5th Course's hole is 663 yards long. This long hole, along with the B-Course 9th (626 yards), makes up Pattana's two longest holes. Big hitters can reach each of these par-6 holes in three strokes. The fairway trees come next. They're scary from the tee, but they're rarely used because they're easy to hit over and just 150 yards distant. The fairways are mainly open and clear of hazards after you get through the trees.
Pattana has plenty of water. The Couse B first hole, for example, necessitates precise placement of both tee and approach shots. Water awaits anything shot left or right off the tee and short on the approach on this lengthy Par-4. At Pattaya, a large portion of the land was altered to produce elevated greens, deep bunkering, and grass mounds. The greens at Pattana are mostly straight, but a handful of the holes contain elaborate undulations, such as the Course C final hole, which has some pin places on the crests of hills.
Without a doubt, Pattana is a difficult course that is best suited to low handicappers and scratch golfers. It is one of the most difficult Pattaya golf courses in windy conditions, especially when the afternoon trade winds from the Gulf of Thailand blow.
Pattana is well-equipped, with a variety of restaurants, practice places, and a sports complex. Hotel rooms, serviced apartments, and villas are among the options provided at the Pattaya golf resort. The caddies and other service personnel have received extensive training.
However, because course conditions differ, it is best to consult a local agent before playing. Pattana also caters to huge Thai and Asian groups from the surrounding area. This puts a premium on tee times, especially on weekends, and slow play is frequently an issue.
