Plutaluang Royal Thai Navy Golf Course

The Plutaluang Royal Thai Navy Golf Course, first inaugurated in 1969, is located 30 minutes south of Pattaya in Sattahip. The Royal Thai Navy's 36-hole pride was built to take advantage of the natural beauty of the location. Plutaluang is a must-play for nature enthusiasts, set in a beautiful valley with mature trees of all kinds. It was built around a massive natural reservoir just after the Vietnam War and is teeming with magnificent flowers, birds, and little woodland critters. Furthermore, there are swarms of indigenous monkeys scavenging the fruits and seeds that come and go with the seasons.

Plutaluang Royal Thai Navy Golf Course is an old school natural golf course, offering some of the best Asian golf available anywhere. Unlike modern Thai golf courses, which follow the trend of having a professional golfer design the course and then a construction firm create the terrain, Plutaluang Royal Thai Navy Golf Course is an old school natural golf course, offering some of the best Asian golf available anywhere. The fairways and greens are Zoysia grass, which is more common on courses in Phuket and Malaysia and helps preserve water.

The cardinal points of North, South, East, and West are represented by the four nines. The first two constitute the original course's core, with East and West being built only in the 1990s. Each nine is a typical par-36 course, and golfers can usually choose which two courses they want to play upon check-in. Each course features a unique set of challenges, including tight fairways, well-protected greens, and hazards with thick rough.

The third hole on the North Course and the ninth hole on the South Course are the two most renowned holes. The first is a par-3 that has a lighthouse and an island green. The latter is located at the course's highest point, and this par-4 necessitates a precise long downhill drive and a strong second shot over water to a tiny green.

The newly renovated clubhouse is well-designed, with well-kept lockers and showers, albeit towels are extra. The pro store is tiny and provides a limited selection of basic golf supplies, while the restaurant offers spectacular views of the golf course and neighboring hills. Because the course is primarily a public Navy facility, drinks and Thai food are quite reasonably priced. This is a fantastic spot to 'end' a round.
Plutaluang is one of the most popular golf courses in Pattaya, despite being one of the older and certainly not first-class courses. The staff's cheerful demeanor, natural layout, and affordable prices combine for a truly pleasurable day of golfing in Pattaya.
